About Me

Aww shucks! Thanks so much for your interest in learning more about my career. At the center of everything I do is a desire to tell and study stories that save lives- and it’s taken me everywhere from chasing tornadoes on the plains of Oklahoma to the White House and beyond. So below is a short peak behind the curtain at what I get up to.

Currently, I’m a Computer Science PhD Student at North Carolina State University advised by Dr. Arnav Jhala. Here, I study Narrative AI (the branch of Gen AI focused on computationally studying and modeling stories) to develop better tech for emergency managers. My doctoral research focuses on creating better auto-generated Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) for hurricanes by ensuring they’re AI informed. I have a Master’s in Operations Research from NCSU as well and a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Duke University that continue to help me accomplish this task. While completing this degree, I continue to adapt my work part-time for Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector.

In 2024, I served as a NOAA National Knauss Fellow to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) advising on one of their first Gen AI pilot projects. With a background as a National Weather Service intern (who studied the 2019 Kincade Fire), a lot of my academic work continues to intersect with major NOAA laboratories like the National Severe Storms Lab (NSSL) and National Hurricane Center (NHC). As a newbie Emergency Manager, I’ve had first-hand experiences surrounding the emergency response to disasters like Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton, the 2024 Greenfield Iowa tornado, the 2024 Eldorado tornado, and the L.A. wildfires. Following completion of my doctoral degree, I plan to continue pursuing a career in Emergency Management and the communication of severe weather alerts at NOAA and/or FEMA.

Alongside my technical work, I’ve been an artist all my life with an eternal fixation on telling stories that are vital to human survival. I’m a debut (queer!) thriller author represented by Susan Cohen with my first novel coming out September of 2026 with Baker & Taylor. I adore bringing the life-changing experiences I’ve lived through to the fictional page, scaring only for the purpose of making worlds and lives better. I hope to make a career out of experiencing the extreme and putting it down on paper as a salve and interest to those just as curious about the world as I am. Having worked on a number of project, most notably Freshly Squeezed Pulp’s The Adventures of Tarzan®, I’m also a classically trained actress currently represented by a local talent agency. As a performer, I love breathing physical life into a character- and learning all about how that defines storytelling.

My work is a lot, especially as I’m often juggling 3-4 jobs at once to make a grad-student living and chase my passion. But when I get chances to relax, I love to bullet journal, draw, dive, watch movies, and spend time with my friends and family (three sweet kitties included, of course)! My favorite drink is plain matcha tea and I’ve eaten more Altoid candies in my life than I care to count.
